About Our Organization

Libby's Light Shines Foundation is inspired by the memory of Libby Claire Rushing, a Dothan, Alabama girl who received her eternal healing on December 5, 2016 after fighting a courageous battle against Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma cancer. As part of her treatment Libby Claire had to travel for her treatments as no local hospitals provide the specialized treatments she required. After Libby Claire was diagnosed with cancer in November of 2013 her parents, TRay and Lindsey Rushing, discovered that in addition to the emotional drain on families in their situation, even families with good medical coverage find that the lodging, food, and other miscellaneous expenses can provide quite a hardship.

The Rushings share that they have had their eyes opened to the deep needs of families who find themselves living in the same life-altering world of pediatric oncology and hematology-related diseases. Inspired by their first-hand experience they sought a way to minister to these deserving families. Libby's Light Shines Inc was born, offering pediatric cancer support.

The Rushings founded Libby's Light Shines foundation to help other families with needs related to a Childhood Cancer diagnosis.Through Libby's Light Shines we can provide hope for children and their families.

As a nonprofit organization, our work depends on the generosity of individuals, corporations, and grants. We provide financial assistance to families who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for cancer. Our foundation is committed to offering financial, spiritual, and emotional support to children and their families coping with pediatric cancer.  We offer support through prayer teams, financial grants, assistance with understanding medical terminology and procedures. We provide critical on-the-ground support to these families who travel this journey with pediatric cancer.

Pediatric cancer is the number one cause of non-accidental death among children. But no parent is ever prepared for a diagnosis.

Libby Claire's parents desire to continue to keep Libby Claires light for Jesus shining bright through this foundation while ministering to one family at the time.
